Special Information
• This position is a hybrid position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at both the Flagstaff Mountain campus and at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.
• This position is posted as Semester Zero Program Director, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Program Director.
• This position is subject to the availability of funding. The incumbent is not eligible for Service Professional non-renewal notice.
• In the weeks leading up to and during the program week, will require substantial evening and weekend work.
• This position has the option to work between a 0.75 and 1.0 FTE.
Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Access NAU, this role has primary responsibility and independent authority for partnering with College Track to design and implement the Semester Zero at NAU program, a week-long residential, social, and academic experience on the NAU Flagstaff campus for 350-500 high school youth from across the U.S. The program is intended to solidify college-going aspirations for College Track scholars.
College Track is a college completion company focused on serving would-be first-generation students from low-income communities. Under the direction of the NAU President, NAU partners with College Track on two initiatives: Semester Zero at NAU and the Cohorted Admissions Model.
Program Strategic Leadership - 60%
• Independently drives the direction and coordination of a comprehensive college access program.
• Requires high collaboration with College Track senior leadership to design, develop, implement, manage, and evaluate the program.
• Collaborates and partners with NACRC Manager, who has primary responsibility for hiring, training, and supervising the student employee staff during the program, as well as managing youth care and conduct.
• Collaborates and partners with Student Affairs staff member assigned to coordinate NAU workshop presenters.
• Leads the development of detailed staff expectations and roles for key activities of the week-long program.
• NAU staff include management staff, full-time individual contributors, and 65+ student employees.
• College Track staff includes approximately 70+ full-time management and individual contributors.
Program Management - 20%
• Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the program, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
• Liaisons with NAU Summer Camps & Conferences, Unions & Activities, Campus Recreation, Cline Library, University Events, High Country Conference Center, and NAU Catering for event logistics.
• Leads the development of Scholar registration process and student group assignments.
• Arranges for NAU staff event volunteers and provides direction for their work.
• Drives development of comprehensive Scholar communications pre-arrival and frequently throughout the week-long experience.
Fiscal Responsibility - 5%
• Independent authority to develop and manage the program budget ($800K+ annually), including decision-making authority to allocate personnel and operational resources.
• Makes purchases, monitors expenditures, reconciles the budget, and invoices College Track.
On-Call Response - 5%
• Provides guidance on youth care and conduct responses that do not have clear precedents, and may require response resources from multiple units at NAU, within College Track, or from the local community.
• Provides one week of on-call support for student or staff care and conduct, triaging needs and activating appropriate response resources.
Collaboration - 5%
• Engages in department, division, and university responsibilities:
• Collaborates with department colleagues.
• Participates in division committees as requested (e.g. Student Affairs Assessment Team).
• Participates in division and department meetings.
Other - 5%
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree.
• 5 years of administrative/coordinative experience in a college setting.
• 3 years of program or project management experience.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Graduate degree in Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, or Higher Education Leadership.
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and successfully with high stakes external partner.
• Experience with high school or college students who would be first-generation, low-income, or students of color.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Salary
Anticipated salary range is $72,445 - $82,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience. Annual salary will be adjusted accordingly if the position is less than 1.0 FTE.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position.
