Job Description
The Annual Giving Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in spearheading digital fundraising efforts, cultivating partnerships with NAU departments, students, external ambassadors, and supporting NAU's Annual Giving program revenue and donor goals and other associated fundraising metrics. This position applies subject matter expertise to lead the development and execution of annual giving fundraising strategies, encompassing initiatives like Lumberjack Day, Axe of Kindness Month, NAU Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, and student crowdfunding projects. Additionally, the position will work with the Director of Annual Giving and other Advancement team members to promote university-wide annual giving initiatives aimed at educating and engaging internal and external stakeholders in NAU's culture of philanthropy to meet annual fundraising metrics.
This position collaborates closely with the Director of Annual Giving to engage various internal stakeholders/partners to drive and manage university-wide fundraising efforts at the annual gift level, communicating regularly with unit leadership and university partners to ensure alignment across units and strategies and to address and resolve any issues. The Assistant Director oversees the tracking and analysis of annual fundraising efforts at NAU in partnership with IT and data team members, delivering comprehensive reports with in-depth analysis and optimization recommendations to refine annual giving fundraising strategies as needed.
As a valued member of the NAU Advancement | Foundation team, the position contributes significantly to building a strong and sustainable foundation of support for the university. This entails engaging alumni, parents, faculty, retirees, staff, students, and friends. Reporting directly to the Director of Annual Giving, this role is instrumental in achieving NAU's annual giving fundraising objectives and is responsible for achieving dollar and donor goals associated with all annual giving level campaigns.
Annual Giving Campaign Management & Coordination - 40%
• Leads the project management and execution of NAU Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, and other annual giving appeals, ensuring seamless coordination with Advancement Communications, Alumni Engagement, volunteer ambassadors and other university stakeholders ensuring alignment with overall division fundraising goals and objectives.
• Coordinates cross-functional fundraising teams (college and department ambassadors, ADV Communications, University Events, Alumni Engagement, Community Engagement, etc.) to support annual gift level events and outreach.
• Manages online fundraising platform (Scalefunder) to maximize donor engagement and content, working with the IT and Data Entry team to ensure functionality.
• Oversees the administration of digital fundraising pages and ensure content is coordinated with broader campaign strategies.
• Plans and executes engaging student crowdfunding campaigns, leveraging various digital platforms and tools to maximize donor participation and contributions.
• Develops a peer-to-peer outreach strategies to support crowdfunding as an integrated and engaging approach to digital fundraising, working collaboratively with the Annual Giving team, ADV communications, and project leaders.
• Develops and implement strategies to engage annual giving donors, ensuring a personalized and meaningful experience that complements wider donor stewardship efforts.
• Monitors and analyzes campaign metrics to inform future strategies and optimizations.
• Develops and manages the digital fundraising budget.
Multi-Channel Fundraising & Stewardship Strategy - 25%
• Collaborate with the Director to develop strategies to cultivate partnerships with NAU departments, students, and external stakeholders to support NAU's Annual Giving program and division fundraising goals.
• Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement stewardship plans to recognize and retain annual gift level donors (up to $49,999), ensuring timely and personalized communications, impact reporting, and recognition opportunities for leadership level donors.
• Observes industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital fundraising to inform strategic decisions and improve existing processes, to ensure effectiveness, mitigate risk, and ensure donor privacy.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership - 15%
• Works closely with the Development team, Advancement Communications team, and other relevant NAU departments to align digital fundraising efforts with broader organizational objectives.
• Provides leadership and guidance to various NAU student groups and their advisors leading digital giving campaigns, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Fosters a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation in fundraising practices.
Data Analysis and Reporting - 15%
• Conducts high-level analysis, compiles information, and develops reports for leadership by overseeing the gathering, tracking, and examination of key digital fundraising metrics.
• Utilize fundraising CRM systems to track donor behavior and engagement and generate analytical reports to inform decision-making and performance evaluation.
• Ensure data integrity and compliance with fundraising best practices, leveraging technology to enhance donor engagement and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 3-5 years of fundraising, marketing/sales, or communication/public relations.
• 2-4 years of management experience.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in a relevant field.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in higher education fundraising.
• Experience working with annual giving programs.
• Experience with marketing/communications campaigns and research.
• Knowledge of digital fundraising “best practices” and emerging technologies for digital engagement and fundraising.

Salary
Salary range begins at $72,445. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
