Special Information
This position is a hybrid position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at both the Flagstaff Mountain campus and at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.
Job Description
Oversees the coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Compares actual results with original financial forecasts to determine the effectiveness of new university programs. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures to optimize KNAU's fiscal oversight and meet all budgetary goals.
Administrative - 50%
• Works closely with KNAU's General Manager for financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Administers State of Arizona, NAU and KNAU systems.
• Responsible for strategic, tactical and short-term operations management.
• Works closely with outside auditors to prepare and submit annual audited financial reports.
• Applies incoming deposits, balances deposits, payments, and receipts.
• Identifies problems and solutions independently; identify and resolves missing information; and improves existing accounting processes within the goals of KNAU.
• Demonstrates advance knowledge of accounting concepts, university budgeting processes, reporting practices, and application of university and ABOR policies.
• Assists the department with transaction issues and makes recommendations or decisions to department management to improve the processes.
• Enters and reconciles monthly financial data in QuickBooks and prepares, produces, and presents financial reports. Create monthly profit and loss reports, analyzes, and monitors revenue, expense accounts, and account receivable activity. This platform has been used to compile all the NAU reporting data to a standard accounting program for annual audited financial statement for the auditors.
• Reconciles the NAU reporting system to ensure deposits and interdepartmental journal transfers are properly recorded and agree to the unapplied payments within the Accounts Receivable System.
• Administers underwriting activities - develop underwriting projections, oversee all related training, proposals and planning.
Operations - 25%
• Works with management on design, operation and improvement of the systems that create and deliver KNAU's services.
• Participates in the station's on-air pledge drives.
NAU Liaison - 10%
• Communicate with the NAU Contracts and Purchasing, Financial Service Team, outside vendors and agencies to process and track financial transactions such as purchasing contracts, SOWs, account payables, and travel.
• Serve as NAU Time and Labor liaison and approves timesheets for part-time employees.
• Purchase and reconcile Pcard transactions for KNAU subscriptions and memberships and other purchases.
CPB - 10%
• Attends the annual Public Media Business Association (PMBA) conference.
• Attends various CPB trainings throughout the year.
• Submits the annual financial reporting for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Community Service Grant in the financial reporting system, Integrated Station Information System.
Other - 5%
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 2-4 years of accounting/finance experience.
• 1-2 years of management experience.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting in higher education.
• Knowledge of Anaplan, university budgeting processes.
• Demonstrated successful financial leadership and ability to develop, direct and supervise staff in all facets of financial strategic planning, budgeting and internal and external audits.
• Familiarity with public radio.
• Knowledge of Quickbooks.

• Expert knowledge of financial operations tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concept, such as budget analysis projects, as well as such as expense tracking, and trend analysis.
• Knowledge of financial reporting in a non-profit, broadcasting or university budgeting processes.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial reporting regulations.
Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Skill in detailed and complex numerical computations and reports.

Salary
Salary range begins at $67,714. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
