The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Assistant at the Chandler Nature Center (Temporary Part-Time, Non-Benefited). This position is scheduled to work varied hours per week.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking enthusiastic new team members who are passionate about customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. The ideal candidate will assist with school programs by leading engaging STEM-based lessons, activities, and crafts for K-8th grade students. Additionally, the role involves leading bus excursions across Arizona to exciting destinations, including hiking spots, museums, cultural sites, special events, and national parks. A strong interest in the Sonoran Desert ecology, STEM topics, and outdoor recreation is essential for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED; and

• 1 year of experience in a recreation environment; and

• First Aid/CPR Certification, depending on assignment; and

• A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in education or outdoor recreation

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment. Applicants for employment and volunteer opportunities should be aware of the City of Chandler’s policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol. These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
